History

Brief history of the hotel

Dom Luis - Elvas, is a 3-star hotel located next to the Amoreira Aqueduct, currently with 88 rooms, bar, terrace, outdoor pool (seasonal) and restaurant (breakfast and groups).

This hotel was built in 1974/1975, at the time with 47 rooms. During the first year it served as shelter for the families of returnees who were forced to abandon the former Portuguese colonies in Africa.

Ten years later, in 1985, expasion works took place resulting in a 61 rooms' hotel. The bar was also renewed becoming larger and gaining a fantastic contemplative esplanade to the Amoreira Aqueduct. Interestingly, at this time, the hotel bar was an ex-libris of the Region, in such a way that there were queues to attend the space. The hotel was also very much in demand for weddings and wedding night.

In 1991 there was another intervention which resulted in a total of 90 rooms available.

Again in 2014 and 2015 a refurbishment allowed a massive improvement in rooms comfort. As a result, the hotel featured 88 rooms, 2 of which suites representing a total of 187 beds.

As early as 2018, an area that was once the "Bingo" was remodeled to a large and multifunctional space to hold various events.
